Over the next three weeks I will be placing the discipline policy as it is written in the school handbook on the blog. This is the first posting of this part of the handbook.
General Misconduct:
Any behavior which disrupts, interferes with, or detracts from learning. Examples of such prohibited behaviors include, but are not limited to:
Talking in class without permission
Not having a pencil or other materials
Walking around the classroom
Throwing things in the classroom
Sleeping in class
Tipping back in chair
Running in the hallway
Chewing gum inappropriately
Arriving late to class
Tapping pencil
Slamming books on desk
Looking out the window
Shouting out in class
Physical contact that could result in possible injury or harm. (including wrestling/ horseplay/ etc.)
Dress code violation
Academic dishonesty/ Cheating
Technology/Acceptable Use Policy violation
Responsible Thinking Process:
1st disruption – The student is always asked the RTP questions.
2nd disruption – The student has chosen to go to the RTC.
*Grade reduction for plagiarism/cheating
The student writes a plan in the RTC and returns to class after negotiating his/her return with the teacher. This should take place without any further disruptions to the classroom.
